Cheese Magic – Life in Wartime: How Kharkivians in Mukachevo make unique snacks.

When you love what you do, your enthusiasm spreads to others, and in such cases production turns into magic — that's exactly what the workers of the Kharkiv-based 'Prime Snack' jokingly, but not really, call their work and what they do best. After the start of russia's full-scale war on Ukraine, the enterprise moved from Kharkiv to Mukachevo and now produces a unique foamed dried cheese here.

And it all started with the idea of two brothers who wanted to come up with a convenient way to take cheese with them on mountain hikes.

"It was my hobby — I cooked cheese at home, for myself, for friends, for relatives. Then we looked for options and found one — the principle that NASA used in the 1970s when sending astronauts into orbit. The goal was healthy products with the lowest possible weight, so the moisture had to be removed. And from some products you can't remove moisture by ordinary thermal convection. Cheese, for example: the moment it heats up, it melts, the fat releases, and it doesn't dry, it just melts," says Pylyp Hryshyn, co-founder and technical director of 'Prime Snack'.
