Why dried cheese is the best beer snack

The classic beer snack is something salty, crunchy and plate-free. Croutons and crisps deliver that, but along with oil, starch and flavour enhancers. Braided string cheese or smoked cheese sticks taste better but are moist: they dry out in the air, stick to your fingers and last only a few weeks in the fridge.

Dried snEco cheese solves both problems. It is real hard cheese from which the water has been removed under vacuum at 36–38 °C — it has become as crunchy as crisps but stayed cheese: 42–52 g of protein per 100 g, 1–4 g of carbs, no oil at all. The pack keeps on the shelf for 18 months without refrigeration, and once opened it stays crunchy all evening. And most importantly: the salty, rich flavour of cheese works with beer exactly the way a classic cheese snack should.

Doesn’t melt, doesn’t make a mess

The dry bites and sticks are picked up by hand from a bowl — no knife, board or napkins.

Salty, but honest

The only salt is what’s in the cheese itself. Smoked Sulguni has more (6 g/100 g), Gouda and Cheddar about 3 g.

Filling

A 28 g pack provides 12–15 g of protein. Two packs for two — and crisps on the table become unnecessary.

Which cheese for which beer

Beer snEco cheese Why it works
Pale lager, pilsner Gouda, Mozzarella a light beer doesn’t want an aggressive flavour; creamy bites don’t overpower it
IPA, pale ale, APA Cheddar the saltiness and richness of Cheddar balance the hoppy bitterness
Porter, stout, dark ale Smoked Sulguni the smokiness meets the roasted malt — the most obvious pairing in the range
Wheat beer, witbier, blanche Primaggio, Mozzarella + cashew aged cheese or a nutty sweetness brings out the citrus notes
Craft smoked beer, bock Smoked Emmental a nutty flavour with a hint of smoke, milder than Sulguni
Strong, Belgian, barley wine Blue Royale blue cheese stands up to the weight of strong beer and the sweetness of the malt

Don’t want to guess? Go for Sulguni + Peanut (the classic beer pairing in one pack) or a set of several flavours. More on pairings with wine, whisky and coffee — in the article cheese snacks for drinks.

How much to get for a group

  1. For two, for an evening — 2–3 packs of 28 g in different flavours. Best combo: smoked Sulguni + Cheddar.
  2. For a group of 4–6 — 500 g pack of one flavour or OPTIMAL set of 6 packs. 500 g is about 18 packs of 28 g, making it the cheapest option per gram.
  3. For a party or watching a match — two 500 g bags in different flavours, in bowls. The crunch lasts until the end of the evening.
  4. For a bar or pub — 500 g for the kitchen or box of 15 packs for the till. Terms for venues — on the page for HoReCa.

How to serve

The simplest way is to pour it into a bowl straight from the pack. If you want it “bar-style”: three bowls of different flavours (Gouda, Cheddar, smoked Sulguni), with olives and nuts alongside. On a cheese board, dried cheese goes in place of croutons — it adds crunch, not flour. In a salad or cream soup — add it at the last moment before serving, so the bites don’t go soft. Questions about beer snacks

Which cheese goes best with beer?
With pale lager — Gouda and mozzarella, with IPA and pale ale — Cheddar, with porter, stout and dark beer — smoked Sulguni, with wheat beer — Primaggio. The universal choice if you don’t know what people will be drinking is smoked Sulguni and Cheddar.
Is it real cheese or a cheese-flavoured snack?
Real. The only ingredient is cheese: pasteurised milk, salt, starter culture, enzyme. The crunch comes from vacuum drying at 36–38 °C, not from deep-frying or starch.
How many packs to get for a group?
For two — 2–3 packs of 28 g. For 4–6 people — a 500 g bag (about 18 packs) or the OPTIMAL set of 6 packs. For a party — two 500 g bags in different flavours.
Won’t dried cheese go soft in a bowl over the evening?
No, it stays crispy on the table for several hours. It only softens from moisture — in an open pack over several days or in a hot dish.
Can I buy beer snacks wholesale for a bar?
Yes. For venues there are 500 g bags and display boxes of 15 packs of 28 g; we send the wholesale price list on request via the partnership page.
Why is dried cheese salty?
The only salt is what’s in the cheese itself; drying removes water, so there is more salt per 100 g than in fresh cheese. Smoked Sulguni has 6 g per 100 g, Gouda and Cheddar about 3 g. Per 28 g pack that’s 0.8–1.7 g of salt — about the same as a serving of salted nuts.
